VETERANS DAY PARADE

Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and his Veterans Advisory Council will host the 20th annual City of Orlando Veterans Day Parade on Saturday, November 9, 2019 to honor the courageous men and women of the armed forces who have fought for our nation’s freedoms.

This year’s theme will honor WWII veterans, with the parade’s five Grand Marshals all having served during WWII.

NOV 10 ALLEY ROCK for FOOD

GET READY for the 2nd Annual ROCK for FOOD Music Festival. Big block party on the streets in front of the Alley and Fuel BBQ.

This year we are honoring Soldier’s Angels(www.soldiersangels.org) for the annual food drive. Soldier’s Angels helps local Veterans receive food items on an as needed basis. They help between 200-250 families each month.

LIVE MUSIC with Crashrocket, Sound Theory, My Generation and Rockit Fly!

The Concert is FREE, please bring non-perishable items to donate. We will be accepting donations inside the Alley beginning Nov 1, 2019

Last year we collected over 3700 lbs of food to be donated to families in need. Let’s make this year even better!

There are 10 x 10 vendor spots available for $30.00. We also have Supporter Packages to assist with the production of this event. You can contact Nicole Henry at nicoleobrienphotographer@gmail.com

Best Senior Discount in Orlando

Living in Florida has its perks. There’s great weather, beautiful beaches and Senior Discounts at many of the area attractions.

We gathered a list together from sites like orlandoseniordiscount.com, senioradvisor.com and seniorcitizendiscountlist.org that lays out area attractions, businesses and restaurants that give seniors a discount.

We do suggest however that you call wherever you’re going to verify the discount. Also, if you’re a member of the military (thank you for your service) you may get a bigger or additional discount. AAA members may also get additional discounts.

SEA LIFE Orlando Aquarium

SEA LIFE features more than 5000 creatures and an immersive 360-degree ocean tunnel. You can also visit the famous Madame Tussauds Orlando wax museum. If you are not afraid of heights, try The Orlando Eye, a 400 foot tall observation wheel with astounding views of Orlando.

Harry P. Leu Gardens

Immerse yourself in the beautiful blooms and flowering trees at Harry P. Leu Gardens. You will see roses, camellias, bromeliads, palms, philodendrons, and azaleas. You can also the tour the restored Leu House Museum located on the grounds.

Tibet-Butler Preserve

Experience nature with butterflies, turtles, birds, alligators, and more while walking through the 440 acre preserve near Walt Disney World. The area features wooden boardwalks to make walking easier and short hikes for those that tire quickly.

Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex

Seniors age 55 and over receive a discount in admission that includes the Space Shuttle Atlantis exhibit, Shuttle Launch Experience, bus tour, IMAX 3D movies, special viewing of rocket launches, shows and exhibits, and the ability to meet an astronaut.

Everglades National Park

Take in the wildlife and views of the Everglades while walking the Anhinga Trail or kayaking on Florida Bay. You may see manatees, crocodiles, or dolphins in the water. There is plenty to do in the park including canoeing, hiking, tram tours, and boat tours.

The Orange County Regional History Center has senior discounts available and for seniors 55+ and tickets are about $7 with the discount (please contact them directly to verify this senior discount)

Titanic The Artifact Exhibition has discounts available for and tickets are around $19.95 for seniors (please contact them directly to verify this senior discount)

Wycliffe Discovery Center has senior discounts available at around $7 for seniors 65+ (please contact them directly to verify this senior discount)

Orlando Science Center

Science lovers and the curious will love this interactive center with exhibit halls featuring DinoDigs, Our Planet, and Science Park. Visit the Crosby Observatory and use the refractor telescope for solar and night sky viewing. Through the telescope, the far away details of the night sky become visible, such as the planets, the rings of Saturn, the moons of Jupiter, double stars, and galaxies.

Mennello Museum of American Art

Enjoy the works of artist Earl Cunningham and special exhibitions like Pop Art, Albert Paley’s Forged Works, and a sculpture garden. You can also visit the Loch Haven Park outside of the museum that connects to other museums of art and science as well as theaters.

Cornell Fine Arts Museum

The museum features fine art collections. Stroll the halls enjoying works from Mary Josephine Walters, Mary Russell Smith, Sadie Barnette, William Merritt Chase, and Lavinia Fontana, among others. Upcoming collections include This Side of Modernism: American and British Artists 1890 – 1945 and Francesco de Mura: In the Light of Naples.

Audubon Center for Birds of Prey

The center has treated over 12,000 birds of prey and released close to 5,000 back into the wild successfully. You can learn about the birds’ natural habitats and the center’s conservation efforts. While visiting, you will see birds currently in treatment that may include eagles, owls, falcons, hawks, and kites. Seniors receive a discount on admission every Friday.
